Raul F. Dominguez, Sr. of Taft, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at the age of 79. Raul was born on November 2, 1932, in Taft, to Leonides and Carmen Dominguez. He was a foreman at Taft Compress for twenty years. He spent the last twenty years before his retirement working for Bonner Plumbing. Raul was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic and the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the V.F.W. and a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Raul was preceded in death by two brothers, Rosendo and Roberto Dominguez; one sister, Delma Dominguez; and great-grandson, Elijah Gutierrez.
Raul is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Tommie Dominguez; two daughters, Delma (Albert) Canales of Portland, Texas and Leticia (Oscar) Hinojosa of Odem, Texas; son, Raul (Vicky) Dominguez, Jr. of Portland; nine grandchildren: Amanda Acosta, Ashley Gutierrez, Monica Deitz, Isaac Hinojosa, Victoria Hinojosa, Chris Dominguez, Justin Dominguez, Matthew Dominguez and Joseph Dominguez; four great-grandchildren: Nicolas Elizardo, Aviel Acosta, Maribella Gutierrez and Tristan Deitz; brother, Ray Dominguez; three sisters: Dora Cardena, Delores Salazar and Delifina Chavez; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, January 20, 2012, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial to follow the service at Palms Memorial Gardens in Portland.
