Ray M. Bible, 81, of Mountain View Terrace in Greeneville, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014, at his home.
He was a retired employee of Phillips Consumer Electronics and worked as a security guard.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Bible was a U. S. Army veteran.
He loved his farm and farm animals, enjoyed gardening, cooking and canning, and helping anyone that was in need. Ray was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be sadly missed for his love and his humor.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years: Freida Headrick Bible; a daughter: Rebecca Bible Nye of Greeneville; one son and daughter-in-law: Freddie and Linda Bible of the South Central Community; three grandsons: Matthew and Spencer Nye, who were his special caregivers, and Aaron Bible and his wife, Ashley; step-granddaughter: Christy Seaton; special great grandson: Canaan Nye; step great grandson: Tyler Brewer; several nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Aileen Brown, Mary Belle Bible, Hazel Alley, Brenda Sexton, Marvin and Jean Ward, Lecile and Jean Headrick, and Beulah and Max Sizemore; and his close friends: Johnny and Louise Sparks.
He was the son of the late George and Essie Bible and was preceded in death by brothers: Seth, Willie J, Graydon, Raymond, and Jarrell Bible; sisters: Maggie Lee Willett, Pearl Smith, Lois Cameron, Ida Bible, Ruth Bible and Stella Bible; brothers-in-law: Gene Alley and Joe Bob Sexton; and a special sister-in-law: Ethyl Bible.
The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Sunday and 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Following visitation, the funeral service will be conducted at 8 pm Monday, March 17, 2014, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Faye Lynn Ricker, Rev. Charles Linton, and Rev. Casey Nickleson officiating.
Interment will be at 11am Tuesday in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct a military graveside service. Family and friends are asked to meet at 10:15 am Tuesday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Nye, Spencer Nye, Aaron Bible, Stanley Bible, Tommy Bible, and Johnny Sparks.
Honorary pallbearers are all his friends and neighbors.
The family wished to express thanks to the staff of Smoky Mountain Hospice and a special thanks to his nurse, Paula Morrison.
