Raymond Eugene "Gene" Foster, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. He was a native of Buckroe Beach, VA and was a lifelong Peninsula resident.
He was the owner and operator of Splash of Color painting company. Prior, he had worked as a car salesman for over twenty-five years at various local dealerships on the Peninsula. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and served during the Korean War. As a golf enthusiast, he enjoyed playing as often as possible. The Redskins have lost one of their most loyal fans. He was beloved by his family and will be truly missed.
Gene is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lynn Foster; parents, Harvey and Inez Foster; siblings, Lillian, Auburn, Virginia, and Mary. He is survived by his companion of many years, Sara R. Stallings; children, Jeanie Lynn Drake, Paul Foster and his wife Adrienne, and Melanie Kay Hofe and her husband David; grandchildren, Zack, Max, Aubrey, Alex, Morgan, and Tanner; and six great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, October 14, 2012, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Gene's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 15, 2012, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
