Reba Langford Merrill, a resident of Dothan, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013. She was 77.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Coley M. Holloway officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Dozier, Alabama with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:30 until 11:30 Thursday prior to service time.

Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice.

Mrs. Merrill was born July 21, 1936 in Dozier, Alabama. Reba taught school for 23 years in Houston County and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She was loved by her family, fellow workers and her students.

Reba loved traveling, working in her yard and cooking. She was always doing things for other people.

Reba is preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Eula Langford, her husband, Benjamin Franklin Merrill, a sister, Trudie Mae Hammett and two brothers, Kirk Langford and Hugh B. Langford.

She is survived by her sisters, Sara Bell of Pensacola, FL, Frances Barnett of Andalusia, AL, Janie Clark of Opp, AL, Lucy Davis (Kent) of Dozier, AL and Exa Jordan of Opp, AL.

She is also survived by her brother, Roy Langford, of LaPorte, IN; a brother-in-law, Joe Merrill (Peggy) of Dothan, AL; two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Merrill Grant of Dozier, AL and Ann Merrill Ray (Frank) of LaGrange, GA; many nieces and nephews also survive.
