In Memory of

Reggie D Cheak

May 7, 1941 - December 9, 2012
Reggie D. Cheak departed this earthly life on Sunday, December 09, 2012 at Seton Hospital in Austin. He was born to Earl and Velma Cheak in Hillsboro, Texas on May 7, 1941.

Reggie was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church where he served on various boards including Elder.

Reggie spent 38 years working on the railroad, first with the M-K-T (Katy) then with Union Pacific. He met and married Glenda Sue Sparks in 1961 and they had 2 daughters, Jackie and Evelyn. Upon their divorce, he moved to San Antonio where he later met Milly Oliver and her 6 children. They married in 1970 and he was transferred to Smithville in June 1973 with the railroad. Milly and Reggie welcomed their daughter Nancy into the world on December 13, 1975.

Reggie was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ronnie, and his son Thomas Wayne Oliver.

Reggie is survived by his wife, Milly and his daughters, Joanne Patterson, Rose (Ronnie) Pietsch, Cathy Smith, Jackie Fowler, Margie (Michael) Hicks, Evie (Art) Brown, Mary Lou Oliver and Nancy (Raul) Cheak-Zamora, his sisters Judy (Sam) Miller and Susan (David) Jack and his brother Richard (Charlotte) Cheak. He is survived by 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly and who affectionately called him Papaw.

Reggie will be remembered by his family as the man who married that woman and raised all those girls even though he didn't have to!! He was a true Dallas Cowboys fan who loved those guys even in the bad years!! He also loved the Baylor Bears, Willie Nelson and the Democratic Party. He never met a Craftsman tool he didn't like.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church "new van fund" as Reggie proudly drove the church bus for many years so that elderly members could attend church services or a charity of your choice.

Services were held on Wednesday, December 12th at Grace Lutheran Church with interment at Oak Hill Cemetery in Smithville.
