Regina Bartolomeu
Passed away peacefully on September 30, 2010 in Eureka, California at the age of 80. She was born to Constantino and Ana da Gloria Rodrigues on December 15, 1929 in Fazenda de Santa Cruz, Flores, Acores. She was the youngest of ten children. Regina married Fernando Bartolomeu in 1952 and they began their family shortly thereafter. In 1960, the family moved to the United States, settling in Arcata in 1963. Regina will be remembered by her family and friends as an honorable and hard working woman who was kind to strangers, as well a great cook. She loved gardening and spent as much time as she could working in her yard. No weed was safe around her house! Regina is survived by her children Emilia and husband Pat, Tony and wife Lisa, all of Arcata; her granddaughters Rachel Sundberg of Arcata, and Crystal Richardson and her husband Jeff of Cottonwood; great grandchildren Celina, Mahala and Brishyn; sister Lourdes Amorim and brother Vitorino Rodrigues both of Tauton, MA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Fernando, her parents Constantino and Ana Rodrigues; brothers Jose Rodrigues, Antonio Rodrigues, Guilherme Rodrigues and Francisco Rodrigues; sisters Maria Silveira, Palmira Amaral, Filomena Silveira; and son-in-law Oliver Kenney. Regina's family wishes to thank the physicians and staff of St. Joseph's Hospital ICU, PCU, and Palliative Care Program for the comfort and care they provided. Visitation will be Wednesday October 6 from 4:00 - 7:00 with a Rosary at 7:00 pm at Paul's Chapel in Arcata. Funeral Services will be on Thursday October 7, 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church, 1690 Janes Road, Arcata, California. Private internment will follow at St. Bernard's cemetery in Eureka. Pallbearers are Pat Myers, Charles Boswell, Gary De Carli, Debbie Boswell, Patricia Arneson, and Tanisha Boswell. Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Richardson and SuWorhrom David Baldy.
