Reginald James Craig of Livingston, NJ passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday August 22, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Philomena's Church 396 South Livingston Avenue Livingston, NJ, at 10 AM on Monday, August 26, 2013, followed by the committal at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ. The family will be receiving visitors at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Avenue Livingston, NJ, on Sunday, August 25, from 2 PM to 6 PM.
"Reggie," as he was known to family and friends, was born in Orange, NJ on June 20, 1943 to Reginald and Margaret Craig. Reggie married his love, Patricia E. Flaherty, on November 14, 1964. He was retired from the Livingston Post Office, where he was a professional letter carrier for 41 years; he served proudly and was well known and loved by those on his mail route.
Reggie's true passion was service to others. He is known throughout the state for his 31 years in the New Jersey State Association of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, where he served in a variety of positions, including District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler of the Northwest District, President of the NJ State Elks Association, Advisor to the State Youth Activities Tournament of Champions Task Force, and Advisor to the State Antler's Program for teenagers. He was also active with the Special Children's Committee, the Youth Activities Committee, the National Services for Veterans Committee, and the Hoop Shoot and Soccer Shoot Programs.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy; three sons and their families-Brian and wife Barbara; Dennis, wife Erin, and children Cierra, Dylan, Patrick, and Brandon; and Matthew, wife Stephanie, and children Connor, Lauren, Gavin, and Harley-two sisters, Carol Blackwell and Patty Craig; and several nieces and nephews.
