Reynold "Rey" E. Downing Jr., 69, of New Bedford, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013.
Born in St. Albans, Vermont, he was the son of the late Reynold E. Sr. and Oleita (Machia) Downing.
Rey had lived in New Bedford since 1989 and had formerly lived in Boston, Vermont and New Hampshire. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post #0462 in Boston. He was an avid Red Sox fan and loved helping others with whatever they may have needed.
He is survived by two brothers, Michael and Robert Downing both of New York; longtime friends, Rae Souza, Charlie and Nancy Rivera and his loving Cat, Wino.
He was also the brother of the late Leonard L. Downing.
His funeral service will he held Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 4 PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN Homes of Memorial Tribute, Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth. A private burial will take place in New Hampshire. Visiting hours, Wednesday 1-4 PM prior to the service. Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to C.A.R.E.
