Dr. Richard Adelson, 56, a former long term Orangeburg resident succumbed Tuesday, April 3rd 2012 to ALS after a long illness. Dr. Adelson, a graduate of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Fellow of the American College of Cardiologists was honored by the Orangetown Jewish Center which named the Dr. Richard and Jana Adelson Campus after him and his wife Jana. Born in New York, Dr. Adelson resided in Allenhurst, NJ. Dr. Adelson was a 1978 honors graduate of the State University of New York at Binghamton and received his Medical Degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, NY in 1978. He completed his Medical Internship and Residency at Montefiore Hospital in 1986. His Cardiology Fellowship was completed at Montefiore Hospital in 1988 and his Fellowship in Cardiac Catheterization was completed at Loma Linda University Medical Center in California in 1989. Dr. Adelson founded Shore Heart Group, PA in 1993 and presided as the Medical Director and Managing Partner until he retired in 2007. Shore Heart Group is a comprehensive, multi-location cardiology practice with eleven physicians. Dr. Adelson is survived by his wife, Jana, sons, Daniel, Roger and Gordon, his parents Fred and Bertha and their sons Howard and Mark.
