Merrietta K. Gordy
Rita Gordy "Sugarbear", 71, a resident of Brunswick, GA died Tuesday September 6, 2011 at her residence. Funeral service will be held 11 AM Wednesday September 14, 2011 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Hinton Johnson and Pastor Leon Guest officiating. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 6 pm. until 8 pm. Tuesday September 13, 2011 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gordy was a lifelong native of Glynn County born August 20, 1940 to the late Myrtle Lee Dean and the late Lewis Samuel "Sam" Kicklighter. She attended the Family Life Center. Mrs. Gordy was a homemaker that was a loving mother and grandmother that enjoyed all aspects of life. She also enjoyed gardening and crocheting.
Survivors include her three sons William Gordy and wife Joan of Pennsylvania, John Robert Gordy and wife Susan of New Cumberland, PA, and Lewis Samuel Gordy and wife Elizabeth of Brunswick, GA, a daughter Susan Hanks and husband Don of Conyers, GA, fourteen grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
