Rita R. Cobb, 92, of Davenport, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2011 at the Countryside Care Center in Delhi.
Rita was born on August 9, 1919 in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late William and Katie (Graham) Reil. She married Robert J. Cobb on June 19, 1954. He predeceased her on November 7, 2000.
Rita worked as a secretary for the Compensation Board, State of New York in Hempstead. She also worked as a secretary for the New York State Bar Association in Mineola and as a executive secretary for Brooklyn College.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church, VFW Auxiliary Lynbrook, NY, the Davenport Historical Society and was a Hospice volunteer.
Rita is survived by her two sons, Robert W. Cobb and his wife Diane of Rocky Point, L.I., NY and William H. Cobb and his wife Ann of Davenport.
She is also survived by his two granddaughters, Angela P. Cobb of Brooklyn and Christina N. Cobb of Davenport and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 pm at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand Street, Oneonta on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at which time the family will be in attendance.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, August 26, 2011 at St. Mary's Church, 39 Walnut Street, Oneonta. Interment will follow in the Davenport Cemetery, Davenport, NY.
