Mr. Allison, age 87, of Charlotte, died Friday, May 10, 2013 at Presbyterian Hospital. Born July 17, 1925 in Mooresville, he was the son of the late John Johnston Allison and Annie Elizabeth Alexander Allison. Mr. Allison served in the US Navy during WWII. He retired as service manager of Twin States Truck Equipment Company after forty years of service. Mr. Allison was a faithful, lifelong member of Williams Memorial Presbyterian Church and had a strong love for the Lord. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church FISH group and enjoyed going on their trips. Mr. Allison was an avid Atlanta Braves baseball fan and enjoyed going with his family to see ballgames. He also coached several youth league ball teams. Mr. Allison loved life and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
The service to celebrate the life of Robert Johnston Allison will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Williams Memorial Presbyterian Church with Reverend Carol Hassell, Reverend Brian Taule and Reverend Tony Harper, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM Monday at McEwen Funeral Service - Derita Chapel.
Survivors include three children, Sherry Allison Powell and husband, Ted, Donnie Allison and wife, Lynne and Ronnie Allison and wife, Rhonda. Six grandchildren, Leslie Powell Young and husband, Robbie, Ashley Powell Honeycutt and husband, Matthew, Cameron Allison, Troy Allison and wife, Amanda, Collin Allison and Tyler Allison; and three great grandchildren, Lee Young, Paige Honeycutt and Caroline Young. In addition to his parents, Mr. Allison was preceded in death by his wife, Millie Horton Allison.
