On October 6, 2012, Robert Merritt Armstrong Sr. of Ellicott City; Beloved husband of Joyce M. Armstrong (nee Snair); Loving father of Deborah A. Campion (Brian), Robert M. Armstrong Jr. (Cheryl), Mark S. Armstrong (Trish) and Douglas E. Armstrong (Tonja); Cherished grandfather of Shannon, Shawn, Lindsay, James, Megan, Kristy, Robby, Jeremy and Charlie and great-grandfather of Lucas, Mia, Jenna, Evan and Riley; He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas T. Armstrong Sr. And Pauline E. Armstrong, his brothers Thomas T. Armstrong Jr. and Richard A. Armstrong, and his grandson Shane R. Armstrong. Mr. Armstrong's hobby was being a sports official, where he was referred to as "Army".
