ROBERT G. BEAUMONT, SR.
Of Columbia, MD died at home on Monday, October 24, 2011. Bob was born in Tea Neck, NJ and joined the Air Force in 1950. After serving, Bob moved to Kingston, NY and started his career as a Chrysler Plymouth Dealer. In the mid-1960's Beaumont had the epiphany that led him to become the largest manufacturer of electric cars in U.S. history. In 1974 the all electric CitiCar began rolling out of the factory, and Beaumont's Sebring-Vanguard Vehicles became the sixth-largest car manufacturer in the country. In the mid 1990's Beaumont had one more shot at his electric dream car with Renaissance Cars and the all electric Tropica. After moving to Columbia, MD he never lost his dream to have millions of Americans driving electric cars.
Bob Beaumont leaves behind wife, Loretta, five children, Marc, Robert, Jr., Steven, Dina and Matthew along with eleven grand children.
A prayer service will be held on Wednesday, October 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Saint John's Roman Catholic Church at the Wilde Lake Interfaith Center, 10431 Twin Rivers Road in Columbia, MD and a funeral mass will be said at the same location on Thursday, October 27 at 10:30 a.m.
