Robert L. Drake, age 58, of Somerset, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 after a brief illness. He was the husband of Paula (Farrell) Drake to whom he had been married for 35 years.
Born in Taunton, the son of Louise (Jacques) Drake of Taunton and the late Robert L. Drake, he has been a resident of Somerset for 35 years. A graduate of Taunton High School, he received his associates degree from Bristol Community College in Criminal Justice and received his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Southeastern Massachusetts University now UMASS Dartmouth.
Mr. Drake was a United States Air Force Veteran in Vietnam where he was a Tail Gunner on B-52 Bombers and later became a United States Coast Guard Reservist for 10 years at Castle Hill, Newport, RI.
Bob retired from the Massachusetts Department of Corrections where he worked for over 30 years. Bob reached the rank of director of Security at MCI Cedar Junction. For the past three years, Robert joined his wife Paula of the Paula Drake Team at Keller Williams Realty. He was a member of the VFW Post 611 in Taunton, an avid Patriots fan. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling and watching his grandson at motocross competitions.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother is a daughter; Jennifer K. Pires and her husband Dennis of Dighton, a grandson; Joshua Pires, his father in-law; William Farrell of Wareham; four brothers and four sisters; Edward, Frank, Alfred and James Drake, Doris Arundel, Nancy Landry, Carol Frazier and Mary Carvalho and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 9am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT ROSE E. SULLIVAN, 866 County St., Somerset, followed by a funeral mass at 10am in St. Louis de France Church, 56 Buffington St., Swansea. Visiting hours Thursday from 4pm to 8pm. Contributions in his honor may be made to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 No. Main St., Providence, RI 02902. Burial with full Military Honors will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Somerset.
