ROBERT DALE ERVIN was born on December 17, 1942 in Breckenridge, Texas and passed away at the age of 70 on January 15, 2013. Robert was preceded by his parents, Sidney Sessums Ervin and Golda Allen Ervin, and his brother Henry Paul Ervin.
Robert was a 1961 graduate from Andrews High School in Andrews, Texas. He then obtained his Associates degree. He was a police officer for a short time in the Odessa Police Department. Robert was a veteran of the army with an honorable discharge. He worked several years in Dallas for JCPenney and then worked security for the remainder of his career.
Robert's interests included World War II history, rabbit hunting with his family, playing poker, and leather working. He was an NRA member and 2nd amendment supporter. Robert enjoyed teaching people about gun safety, shooting tips, and how to properly maintain their guns. Robert loved his family and assisted in the care of his father, mother and brother during their final years.
Robert is survived by his youngest brother, Carl W. Ervin, daughter Melissa Ervin Spence, nephews Kevin Ervin and Cody Ervin, nieces April Carman and Stacy Ervin, son-in-law Steve Spence, sister-in-law Becky Ervin, ex-wife Sandra G. Ervin, longtime family friend, Gilbert Shultz, and several other family and friends.
A memorial for family and close friends honoring Robert's life will be held in the spring.
