Robert "Bob" Charles Fackler, 75, of Napoleon, Ohio, passed away peacefully Monday, March 26, 2012, at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
Bob was born December 16, 1936, in Hamler, Ohio, the son of the late Charles Boyd and Evelyn (Zook) Fackler. On October 11, 1958, he married Mary Margaret McCoy, who died September 2, 1970. On October 19, 1971, he married Margaret (Kale) Crawford. They later divorced in 1992.
Bob served as a United States Marine Corps Sergeant from 1953 to 1957, during the Korean War. He was a life-time member of American Legion Post #300, AmVets Post #1313 and a charter member of the Eagles Post #4428. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 8218. Bob was the Marshall of the Village of Hamler from the late 60s to the early 70s and worked at the Campbell Soup Company for 26 years, retiring in 1997.
He will be missed by his daughters, Denise Van Plew of Long Beach, CA, Lori (Kirk) Schwiebert of Malinta, Ohio, brother Jan Fackler of Malinta, Ohio, step-daughter Wendy Crawford of Napoleon, Ohio, step-son Tony Crawford of Napoleon, Ohio,
7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kim Buckmaster, and sister, Carol Hittle.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 29 from 2-8 p.m. at Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon, Ohio and an hour prior to services on Friday at the church.
Services will be held at Harvest Fellowship Church, Hamler, Ohio, on Friday, March 30 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor James Erven, officiating. Burial will follow at Marion Township Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Napoleon Joint Veteran Posts.
Memorials can be made to the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center, Harvest Fellowship Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
