Robert N. Fischer, age 83, of Rhinelander, died Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at his home. He was born March 5, 1929 to William and Beda (Bergman) Fischer in Antigo, Wisconsin. Robert graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1947. He married the former Esther Anderson on December 21, 1953. Robert enlisted into the United States Marine Corps officer training school on October 1, 1953 and was honorably discharged on November 25, 1955 as a First Lieutenant. He was a teacher /coach at Tomahawk High School for four years; he worked at the Rhinelander Paper Mill for 20 plus years and then worked at Twist Drill until his retirement. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the Packers, Badgers and the Brewers play. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his wife, Esther, his children; Liz (Al) Reischel of Rhinelander, Julie (Tim) Towne of Wausau, Bill Fischer of Oshkosh, Cathy (Dennis) Ice of Amarillo, Texas and Patty (Russ) Crane of McFarland, WI, six grandchildren and a brother, William (Janiece) Fischer of Tomahawk.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Hartwig and two sisters; Frances and Marcella.
A memorial service will be Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 1:00pm at Hildebrand Russ Funeral Home with Chaplain John Uhlarik officiating. Military Honors will follow. Visitation will be at 10:00am until the time of service. A memorial has been established in Robert's name and may be directed to the family.
