Robert Matthew Mars was born the day he was due - Sunday, March 15, 1964 at Memorial Hospital, Long Beach to Dick and Carole Mars. He was named after his Great Grandfather and his mother's Doctor. He weighed 8 lbs 7 oz. He spend his first few years in Bellflower and then Cypress, but at 6 years old moved to Cerritos where he attended Cerritos Elementary, Carmenita Jr. High, and Cerritos High School.
Rob very much enjoyed watching sports especially the Lakers. He was a vocal armchair participate - screaming at the television, like he was in attendance. When he was younger, he didn't watch he played: loved skateboarding, bicycling, baseball - anything that kept him outdoors.
He and his brother, Rick, had amazing adventures, that were UNKNOWN to their parents - but Rob and Rick confessed - much later - to their Mother's shock! Late night bar-b-ques, running around the block in only their underwear for all the change in their friends pockets, hay forts at the dairy down the street, and bicycle trips to Seal Beach in the night. Lots of fun and lots of laughs!
He loved his family, his home, and Janan. But especially enjoyed going to Mexico with friends to fish, eat and drink. And always came home with lots of fish, a dark tan and usually a sun burn.
Rob will be missed every day by many - including his older brother, Rick, his younger sister and brother, Trish and Jon, his girlfriend, Janan, and her son, Sean, his Mother, Carole, and step-Dad, Don, and Father, Rick, and Grandmother, Roberta, and various uncles, aunts, step brothers and a step sister - and assorted other friends and relatives and his fishing buddies - who all, like Rob, could tell great fishing stories, especially about the 'ones that got away'.
We like to think Rob is looking down on us today - saying 'I wish I could be at this party' - and we wish he could, too. We love you and miss you.

I remember Robby well as he and his family lived around the corner from mine in Cerritos when we were growing up. He was a great kid with a big heart. My condolences to his family and loved ones.

All,
I can not begin to tell you how sorry i am for your loss. Rob and i are the same age and it is far too young to have this happen. This has impacted me profoundly and this moment will live with me for a long time. Rob was always so full of life and had boundless energy. Thank you to all of the family for the support and kindness you have offered me over the years.
I don't know what else to say. I am SO sorry.
