Robert Schubel, age 88, of Port St. Lucie, FL, passed away on August 30th, 2013.
Born in 1924 in Lansing MI, Robert and his wife Lillian retired to Port St. Lucie, FL in 1992 and resided at PGA Village where he enjoyed his life long passion of playing golf. He loved sports including college football and basketball, and always rooted for Michigan State. Robert was a friend to everyone who knew him and always had time to sit and talk.
Robert served in WWII and was Bronze Star recipient. He began his working career selling office equipment in Lansing MI, then in Louisville, KY. Robert started his own office equipment company in Ft. Wayne, IN in 1963. Through his hard efforts, he built it into a very successful organization, which later grew into Office Concepts, Inc. While in Ft. Wayne, he and his wife attended North Christian Church, was a member and past president of Orchard Ridge Country Club, a member of the Mad Anthony's and the YMCA Athletic Club where he kept in top physical shape.
Robert was preceded in death by his sisters; Arlene Volkert of Hudson MI / Charlotte NC and Miriam Dilloway of Greenville, SC.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 63 years, Lillian; son Scott Schubel and wife JoAnn of Vero Beach, FL and 2 grandchildren, Lauren and Scott II; son Rodney Schubel and wife Catherine of Ft. Pierce, FL; brother Otto Schubel of Stuart, FL along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Services will be held on Tuesday, September 10th at First United Methodist Church in Port St. Lucie, FL.
