Robert Solomon, of Bethesda, MD, beloved father and husband, on September 6, 2013, at the age of 92. Former chief international economist for the Federal Reserve and adviser to the Board of Governors, author of several books, and guest scholar at the Brookings Institution. He grew up in New York City and Rye, NY, and was a graduate of the University of Michigan and Harvard University. He served with the U.S. Army Air Force in the Pacific theater of World War II. He is survived by Jean Braun. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Fern Solomon, loving mother of his three daughters, Carol Van Oudenaren (John) of Bethesda, Barbara Solomon (Mark Goldrosen) of Corte Madera, CA, and Anne Rutland (Robert) of Buffalo, NY. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, John, Daniel and Laura Van Oudenaren, Juliana and Jason Goldrosen, and Alexander and Nicholas Rutland. A service will be held at Danzansky-Goldberg Memorial Chapel (301-340-1400), 1170 Rockville Pike, at 4 p.m., Tuesday, September 10. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Montgomery Hospice of Rockville.
