I met Bob at my first VDCA race at Roebling Road in Savannah last December. He was the first VDCA member to meet and introduce himself to the new guy racing the first RX7 in VDCA. His first words to me were "do you need any help" I think that says it all... You'll be missed by many.

When Bob found out I was going into engineering at the U of MN, he began to help and mentor me in many different ways. He sought me out at race events to see how school was going and encouraged me to "stick to it especially because it is difficult". A true mentor. He also supported my race efforts as a very young racer by loaning me tools and equipment, storing my cars and helping out however he could. He would always say that his job is to get young people involved in the sport of racing. Later in life we were able to race each other in our vintage cars where he was always the gentleman racer... he held his line, raced you hard and made you earn every inch of the track, but you knew that through it all he wanted a safe race and no incidents so there was huge trust in his skill, ability and composure.
Always a mentor, always a coach, always a gentleman.
You have a wonderful family that will miss you greatly... as will we all.

First met Bob while vintage racing, we both had Elvas. I figured he needed to add mine to his collection, but he talked himself out of it...forced me to keep it so he'd have another to race against.
Always, was a joy to see him tooling about the paddock in that Moke when you showed up.
Made the racing fun. Added a lot to everyone's experience. Will be sorely missed.
Was a neat guy, and a true honor to have him in my life's experiece...

I was shocked and saddened to read Bob's obit on Sunday. Just an hour before I read it I was re-telling the funny story about Bob trying to teach me how to use a sliderule. I met Bob when we were both ice racing. I'll never forget that pink Saab with the yellow headlights. When I quit racing I became his crew chief for a few years. Fond memories of the many hours spent with Bob, Nancy & the kids. Lot of hours out in the barn working on ice racers and listening to classical music. I still listen to that station today. Anytime anybody needed help, Bob was there. I'll miss him.

I met Bob for the first time at Road Atlanta recently. He spent 20 minutes telling me all about his cars and showing me all about them. Quite the Gentleman and quite an honor. Thanks Bob for being so gracious.

Bob Youngdahl hired me at Advance Shoring Co, and Concrete Form Engineers in April,1985. He has been my Mentor and Guide, professionally for over 25 years. After 10 years of his support, I stopped calling him Bob, and always called him "Robert". I will always respect him and thank him for seeing the potential in me. Thanks Robert. John Vogel

Even though I had the pleasure of knowing Bob just a few short years, I am so glad I did. He was a true gentleman both on & off the track. He will be sorely missed at our table for Christmas dinner.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Bob's accident. I have known him more than 10 years and he has been gracious in allowing me and my friends to water ski on Cynthia Lake right there in front of his Minnesota house all these years. We developed a warm relation that I will truly miss. Bob and I shared both his passion for racing and mine with water skiing. We both were/are competitors in our sports. I sure hate to see him go out this way. He had more years to live and give. He was a good man.

I first met Bob at Virginia International Raceway where he first raced his Elva Porsche. He allowed me to pit with him and helped me with my Chevron. We last raced together at Sebring this month. A great gentleman and friend. Heaven is now his home and we will all miss him, but treasure our times with him.
