Rodney A Elg

February 9, 1925 - October 6, 2012
Rodney (Rod) Elg beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 87 on October 6, 2012. He was born on February 9, 1925 in Salt lake City, Utah to Joseph Hyalmer Elg and Mary Trisha Lindahl Elg.

Rod served in the US Navy as a Seabee during World War II. After returning home he met Maurine Thomas and they were married on June 18, 1948. He is survived by his wife Maurine and children Terry (John) Hansen, Kent Elg and Maralyn (Gene) Phillips. He has six grandchildren and six great grandchildren, nephew Roger Keddington and niece Linda Peck. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, four sisters and one brother.

He learned carpentry while helping his father build houses before the War. He used his carpentry skills to support his family and was always a good provider. Rod was always ready to help family and friends with building projects. He built a family cabin near Heber City, Rod and Maurine spent every weekend for 40 years at their cabin. Their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren will always remember the fun times they shared with them at the cabin. Rod enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with family and friends golfing, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary where friends may call Wednesday from 7 to 8 pm and then one hour prior to services. Interment follows at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
