Ronald Augustine (Ron) Bernardi 74 of Fort Frances passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at LaVerendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Ron was born on Wednesday, June 8, 1938 in fort Frances, Ontario to the late Albino and Adele Bernardi. Ron was employed at numerous jobs throughout his life including working at the family business of Bernardi's Groceries, the Rendevous, Red Dog Inn and for McTaggarts in Fort Frances as well as the location manager at McTaggarts in Winnipeg. He was a faithful member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and an Honourary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. He loved spending time in Morson and he thoroughly enjoyed having his daily coffee with his friends at Reid's Voyageur Inn Motel. He was very community oriented and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Ronnie was extremely generous and kind.
He is survived by his sister-in-law Rose Bernardi of Fort Frances and cousins Alice Bonin, Luciano Taiariol, both of Windsor, ON Delfino Bernardi or Orangville, ON and Aldo Bernardi. He also will be missed by his many friends in the Region.
He was predeceased by his parents Albino and Adele, his brother Albert and sister and brother-in-law Rita and Norman Munro.
Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances. Father Jose Edesery officiated followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Visitation was held on Monday, August 6, 2012 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home with Vigil Prayers being offered at 7:30 p.m.
The active pallbearers were Denis Busch, Larry Cousineau, Tom Duchnicki, Don Cumming, Bob Lidkea and Carl Schaum
The Honour Guard was members of the Knights of Columbus.
