Ronald J. Conway, 78, of North Swanzey, NH, passed away on December 4, 2012 at Cheshire Medical Center / Dartmouth Hitchcock in Keene after a long illness.
He was born in Plymouth, NH, February 21, 1934, the son on Rose (Carter) and Andrew Conway. He lived in Plymouth until he moved to Keene as a young man after two years at Plymouth State College. He lived in Keene until he relocated to North Swanzey in 2011.
To all who knew him, they will always remember his quick wit and humor. He usually kept his wit in his back pocket and brought it out when it was least expected. He was always ready with a joke.
He worked for many years at MPB/Timken in Keene and retired from there in 1996. He also previously worked at the former Homestead Woolen Mill in Swanzey.
He was an avid golfer for many years. He was a member of the Pine Grove Springs Golf Course where he won at least one club championship. He was also a lifetime member of the Keene Elks Lodge, where he spent a good deal of his time with his friends drinking beer and playing cribbage. He enjoyed gatherings with family and friends especially cookouts in the summer. In later years he spent most of his time reading and watching sports, old western and classic movies on TV. He was also a longtime diehard Red Sox fan.
Survivors include his wife, Donna (McClellan/Tyler) Conway with whom he spent the last 2 years; his son, Christopher Conway of Keene; his daughters, Kathleen Miller and her husband, Paul of Keene, and Colleen Conway of Seattle WA; grandchildren, Justin Miller of Manchester, CT, Mallory Miller of Swanzey and Alex Conway of Keene; his sister, Patsy (Conway) Neads of Taylors, SC and her husband, Kenneth; his brother, Russell Conway of Plymouth, NH; his mother-in-law, Mildred Davis of North Swanzey; his stepson, Timothy Tyler and his fiancée, Laurie Sanders-Jewett of West Swanzey; his step grandchildren Neve and Timothy Tyler Jr., Tyler Carrier and his wife Kimberly of Swanzey and their twin boys Adam and Lucas; several nieces and nephews. His daughter Kelly Conway, his brothers, Andy and Dennis Conway, his parents, his stepmother, Natalie Conway and his stepdaughter, Lorie Carrier, all died earlier.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life on Monday, December 10th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene. There will be no other services held.
