. Ronnie Raymond Becker (Bonka)
Ronnie was born at home on November 17, 1944 to Ed Becker and Irene (Koenning) Becker. He was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Detmold, Texas on June 3, 1945 by Theodore Bogisch. He graduated Thorndale High School in 1963. He was confirmed by Pastor Elton Bauerkemper on December 20, 1964 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Dallas, Texas.
Ronnie married Angie (Schneider) on July 11, 1964. They had two children Michael and Kirk Becker.
Ronnie is survived by his wife Angie Becker, two sons Michael Becker and friend Nell Caffey, Kirk Becker and wife Jami. Three grandchildren Macy, MaKenzie and Kade Becker, brothers Eugene Becker and wife Wilma from Austin, Dennis Becker and wife Jane from Thorndale, sisters Better Davis of Irving and Linda Lugg and husband Dennis of Aransas Pass sister-in-law Gracie Cargill and husband James of Thorndale, brother-in-law Kelton Schneider and wife Alice.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Jerry Becker and Bill Ray Becker and brother-in-law Glenn Davis.
He was employed at Taylor Mfg. American Desk over 30 years and was most recently employed by Floyd's Glass Co for the past 15 years.
Ronnie was a big supporter at the St. Paul Lutheran School and Church. He served many years as an Elder, Financial Secretary, School Board and greeter at church. For many years he was a basketball and football referee and was always there to cheer and boost the teams.
Ronnie was also a big supporter for the Thorndale High School. Shortly after graduation he started running the clock for the football games, in 1986 he handed down the job of running the clock to his sons and accepted the job of announcing the football games after Newton Butts decided to retire. At the time of his death Ronnie still faithfully enjoyed doing the announcing. Ronnie also enjoyed running the clock for the basketball teams for 43 years and continued doing so until his death. In 1986 Ronnie received the Meritorious Award from the Chamber of Commerce. In 1988 he also received the Outstanding Citizen Award from the Thorndale Chamber of Chamber of Commerce. On July 19, 2007 he suffered a cardiac arrest, stroke and seizure, but after spending 31 days in Scott & White Hospital in Temple, he returned home and continued announcing the games and running the clock. He was known by many as the "Miracle Man" having survived the ordeal.
