Mrs. Rosie "Frosty" Jeanette Corpening, 79, of Morganton went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 5, 2013. Born December 10, 1933, in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late James McDowell and Ethel Gibbs McDowell. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Corpening was also preceded in death by her husband, Bill Corpening, two infant children, a sister, Willie McDowell and a brother, Frank McDowell.
Mrs. Corpening was a faithful member at the McElrath Chapel AME Church, Morganton, where she served the Lord as a Pastors Aid, she served on the Memorial Lights Committee, the Union Fellowship, she was the Needs Committee President, she helped with numerous Fundraisers and was a faithful member of the Sunday School program.
Left behind to cherish her memory are the sons, Raymond McDowell, of Morganton, Gregory McDowell, of Charlotte and Michael McDowell, of Asheville;
Two daughters, Helen McDowell, of Morganton and Constance Jefferson & husband, Ronald, of Asheville;
A nephew, Herbert McDowell & wife, Jackie, of Morganton;
A sister, Ruby McDowell, of Morganton;
A niece, Glenda McDowell, of Morganton;
Six grandchildren and Nine great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends will also cherish her memory.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Corpening will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, February 8, 2013 at the McElrath Chapel AME Church, Morganton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the Church. Interment will follow at the McElrath Chapel AME Church Cemetery.
