Rubin Bartsch was born March 3rd, 1925 in Dalmeny Saskatchewan, the oldest son of Jacob and Susie Bartsch. As a young man he moved to Ontario where he married Justine Baerg in 1950. Two sons were born to them, Raymond and Roger. Justine passed away Feb. 13th, 1963. In 1964 Dad married Tina Goetz. They made their home in St. Catharines, Ontario until Dad retired from General Motors at age 56. They bought a small house on the Muskoka River in cottage country. The best years of their lives were spent there serving in the local Baptist church and entertaining friends and family that would frequent their home.
Dad and Mom relocated to Abbotsford in the 1980's to be closer to family and moved in across the street from Uncle John and Aunt Evelyn. Dad so much enjoyed fellowship with his sister and brother-in-law and that relationship was rich right up to the end of his life. The family is so thankful to Evelyn for her love, kindness and help for Dad, especially the last few years.
Dad committed his heart and life to Jesus Christ as a young adult and was baptized in 1950. He was a leader in the Christian Service Brigade boys club for about ten years. As well, he served on the Board of Deacons in every church where he was a member and was frustrated that he was unable to continue serving after his heart attack two years ago.
Dad loved his family. His last words to his son, Ray, as they parted last Monday were, "Please pass on my love to everyone, tell them they are each one in my prayers."
Dad is survived by his two sons, Ray (Fay), Roger (Norma); six grandchildren, Tim (Genine), Julia (Shawn) Wick, Amber (Matt) Giesbrecht, Murray (Rebecca), Chad (Jamie), Ginny (Richard) Littleton; five great-grandchildren; his sisters Evelyn, Esther, and Dolores, and his brother Henry. He was predeceased by his wives, Justine and Tina, his great-grand-daughter, Amelia Rae, and by his sisters, Linda, Alma, Viola and Shirley.
