Ruby Pollock Abbott, 92, passed away Friday, October 11, 2013, at a local medical center.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory Street, Abilene. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Stephen Abbott, Stacy Abbott, Dustin Pittman, and Bill Edevane. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Ruby was born April 14, 1921 to Samuel Edward Pollock and Tamar Ann Arrant Pollock in Abilene, Texas. She married L.T. "Jerry" Abbott on May 7, 1939. They enjoyed traveling and were members of the Good Sam Travel Club. Ruby was a member of Southside Baptist Church and Reaper's Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker and mother.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Tamar Pollock; her husband, Jerry Abbott in 1989; her brother, Colonel Byron E. Pollock; her sisters, Frances Kimbler and Ruth Flynn; and a grandson, Darrell Abbott.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Abbott, Jimmy Abbott and wife Joy; daughter, Carol Newton; grandchildren, Vincent Abbott, Stephen Abbott, Stacy Abbott and wife Judith, Amanda Pittman and husband Dustin, Stephanie Edevane and husband Bill, and Sarah Newton. Great-grandchildren are Megan Abbott and Jaxon, Ryland, and Hudson Pittman.
