Ruth Kaufman Bloom

Ruth Kaufman Bloom, 96, of East Sheridan Avenue, DuBois, died yesterday at her home.

Born May 17, 1914, in Reynoldsville, she was the daughter of the late Nathan and Gussie Wein Kaufman. She was married to Marvin Bloom on December 26,, 1934, who preceded her in death on July 4, 2000.

She was a life member of the Sons of Israel Synagogue and the Ladies Auxiliary where she taught Sunday School and Judaism classes. She was a graduate of Reynoldsville High School Class of 1932, Penn State Art classes, and DuBois Business College. She was a member and an active officer for many civic and community organizations, including: President of Clara Hall Service League, 30 year volunteer for DRMC Maple Avenue hospital, DuBois Woman's Club, Friends of the Library, PTA, Christ the King Manor, Girl Scout Council, DuBois Country Club, Board of Elections, DuBois Historical Society, Hadassah President, and the American Red Cross. She enjoyed golf, bridge, oil painting, traveling, and her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Judy Yablon of Silver Springs, MD and Nancy Koch of Marina Del Ray, CA, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a niece.

BLOOM: Ruth K., of East Sheridan Avenue, DuBois, died November 29, 2010. Friends will be received from 12:30 to 1:30pm today, November 30, 2010 at the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc., DuBois. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm today at the Sons of Israel Cemetery in DuBois with Dr. Gregory Suslow, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
