DeQuincy--Sammie Nell "Maw" Biven Bertrand, 79, died January 7, 2011 in a Lake Charles Hospital. She lived in DeQuincy, was a graduate of Lake Charles High School, a bookkeeper for several car dealerships in DeQuincy for many years and also a bookkeeper for Edgar Perkins Law Firm in DeQuincy for 8 years. She was lovingly referred to as "Maw' by her family, and all the kids that knew her.
Survivors include her son, Kirk Arnold Bertrand and wife, Connie of DeQuincy, daughter, Viki Dale Bertrand Flessner and husband, Dave of Overland Park, KS, brothers, Wilbur Biven and wife, Yvonne of Lake Charles and Thomas Biven, Jr. and wife, Carolyn of Lake Charles, grandchildren, Brandy and fiance' Chad, Mandy and husband, Levi, Jackie and husband, Donovan, Allie and Noah, great grandchildren, Keely, Julee, Emmy, Jaylee and Lil' Chad. She was preceded in death by her husband, Huey P "Tucker" Bertrand.
Services will be Friday, January 14, 2011 at 2p.m. in Hixson-Snider Funeral Home. Rev. Glenn George and Rev. Chris Jeffus will officiate. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday, January 13 from 5-9p.m. and will resume on Friday from 8a.m. in the funeral home until time of service.
