Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, relative and friend, Sanders (Sandy) Brown passed away suddenly on September 23, 2013. He was born in 1931 to Thelma Estes and Babe Brown in Los Angeles, California.
Sandy spent his childhood years in San Antonio, Midland and Los Angeles. He attended Peacock Military Academy in San Antonio and Hollywood High School in Los Angeles. He joined the Navy and then attended UCLA and USC. He had a wonderful and exciting thirty eight year with Lockheed working as a manager then director on many special aircraft projects, collaborating with the Navy and with the legislature in Washington, D.C. Many of his programs were based at the Skunk Works in Burbank, California.
After retirement Sandy attended paramedic school and became a volunteer paramedic and president of the Granite Shoals Fire Department. He also taught EMT and paramedic training.
After moving to Sun City Texas, he became a volunteer driver for the Veterans Administration. He was a proud member of the VFW Post 85-87, American Legion Post 174 and the Aviation Club. Sandy loved RVing, cruising and especially seeing his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Stacey Uberstine and husband Gary of Los Angeles, California; sons, Charlie and Greg Brown of Florida; stepsons, Tracy Day of Mammoth Lakes, California and Kerry Day and wife Toni of Valley Center, California; grandchildren, Stephanie Wilson and husband Rob, Brandee Wilken and husband Chris, and Grant and Tyler Uberstine; great grandchildren, Aiden and Ellis Wilkens; special cousins in Midland, Pat Estes, Virginia Estes, Beau Estes and wife Barbara and their daughter Bailey.
All who knew Sandy loved and respected him as an honorable and respectful man, and he will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Everyone's favorite saying was "Who doesn't love Sandy Brown?"
