Sandra K. Ball, 62, of Nevada, died Sunday, January 9, 2011 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Funeral sertvices will be Thursday, Jan. 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Stevens Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Gilbert Cemetery.
Sandra Ball was born November 29, 1948 in Ames to Lyle and Marjorie (Brown) Desher. She married Denny Ball in 1966. She was a lifelong Story County resident.
She was employed at ISU for over 20 years and retired from Mary Greeley Medical Center. She enjoyed bowling in a Nevada women's league.
She is survived by a son, Tony (Melanie) Ball of Boone; a brother, Jim (Pat) Desher of Ames; two sisters, Sharon Weigel and Roxanne (Jim) Freel, all of Nevada; daughter-in-law, Kellie Birchmeier of Maxwell; 9 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Terry Ball; and former husband, Denny.
