Sarah Ruth Myers White, 87, died peacefully on Monday, October 14, 2013, at her home in Union Grove, surrounded by her family.
She was born July 28, 1926, in Surry County and was the daughter of the late Sanford Keener and Emma Eula Burgess Myers. She was a member of a non-denominational Christian church and a retired school teacher from Yadkin County Schools with many years at West Yadkin Elementary School. She enjoyed all things in nature including flowers, plants, rocks and animals, especially her cows. She also had a great love for people, especially the children whom she taught. She loved the Lord and faithfully served Him throughout her life. Mrs. White reflected Christ's love for her in her love and care for everyone she met.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband J.T. "Tom" White; and a brother, Leslie M. Myers.
She is survived by a son, Thomas (Holly) White of Lewisville; two daughters, Cynthia (Kyle) Prevette of Hamptonville and Leah (Jeff) Galliher of Harmony; four grandchildren, Emylee Prevette (Daniel) Pedersen, Austin Prevette, Hannah Huie, and Ethan Galliher; a sister-in-law, Edith W. Myers of Winston-Salem; a niece, Molly Myers; and a nephew, Marti Myers.
Funeral service celebrating Ruth's life will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 18, 2013, in the Ernest Troutman Memorial Chapel at Reavis Funeral Home of Harmony with the ministers Tom Nussbaum and Harlan Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Chapel Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, October 17, 2013, at Reavis Funeral Home of Harmony and at other times will be at the residence.
