Sarah Maddox Johnson, 98, of Louisville passed away at Jefferson Place Nursing Home on March 6, 2014.
She was born in Shelby County, KY on June 18, 1915. Sarah was a graduate of Simpsonville (KY) High School and Western Kentucky University. After graduation she married Walter Johnson and moved to Milan, TN where she was an English Teacher for more than 20 years.
She was an active member of the Milan community and the First United Methodist Church.
Sarah was a true southern lady, gracious and kind to all who knew her. She loved playing bridge, reading and keeping in touch with her many friends through cards and letters. Preceding her in death was her husband of 47 years, Walter Johnson; sister, Elizabeth Eads and a brother, Walter Maddox.
Survivors include her two nieces and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00pm CDT on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the Rob Draper Cemetery in Gainesboro, TN. Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
