Sarkis Abkar, 63, a business owner, of Las Vegas, passed away Feb. 1, 2011. He was born Jan. 3, 1948, in Isfahan, Iran, and was a 30-year resident of Nevada. Sarkis was a local automotive repair shop owner for more than 20 years. Sarkis had a reputation for being an extremely hard worker. In fact, he truly enjoyed work and often worked seven days a week. He was known for his drive. Sarkis loved his family and his friends. He also really loved his dogs. He was a kindhearted person. Sarkis was also very generous. He helped out everyone who needed both financial help and advice. His two favorite hobbies were playing poker and participating in car rallys. He loved to watch football and engage in sports wagering. His favorite T.V. show was Two and a Half Men. His favorite movie was Ronin. Sarkis was preceded in death by his parents, Emil Abkar and Sonik Abkar; and beloved son, Allen Abkar. Sarkis is survived by his wife, of 30 years, Kelly; two daughters, Adria (20) and Alina (35); sister, Elise; brother-in-law, Larry; and a very large extended family in Australia. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5. Services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Donations can be made to Heaven Can Wait Animal Sanctuary, P.O.
