Serafim B. Lopes, 90, of Ridgefield, formerly of Danbury, beloved husband of the late Maria Graca Lopes, passed away peacefully at Laurel Ridge Health Care Center on Monday, February 17, 2014.
Serafim was born in Nabainhos, Portugal, son of the late Jose and Clara Lopes. He had worked for many years in the building construction industry, prior to his retirement.
He is survived by his children: Clara Tomas and husband Manuel of Round Rock, TX, Maria Oliveira and husband Jorge of Danbury, Carminda Tomas and husband Serafim of Danbury and Anthony Lopes and wife Teresa of Danbury, his grandchildren: Pedro Tomas and wife Laura, Diana Loftis and husband John, Cindy Vaupel and husband Christian, Jennifer and Danny Tomas and Melissa and Steven Lopes, his great grandchildren: Christian Tomas and Elizabeth and Catherine Vaupel. He was the youngest of eight children.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Danbury, on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Danbury Hospital, 11th floor and the staff of the Laurel Ridge Health Care Center for the many kindnesses and great care given to both Serafim and Maria Lopes during their stays.
