Serafin Alves, Jr., 48 of Porterville, California passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2012 in Porterville, California surrounded by his loving family.
Serafin was born in Artesia, California on March 10, 1964 to Serafin and Maria Alves. His family moved to Tulare when Serafin was nine years old. He attended Oak Valley Elementary School. Serafin worked alongside his father at the family dairy, A&M Diary in Tulare for many years. He enjoyed riding his ATV, mowing the yard, snow skiing and spending time with his friend, Donna Officer as well as being with his nieces, nephews and goddaughter, Marian Baker.
Serafin was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Alves in 2004.
Serafin is survived by his father, Serafin Alves of Portugal; his siblings, Bernice Martins (Antonio) of Tulare, CA, Carlos Alves of Stevenson, CA, Arleen Avila of Visalia, CA, Goarete Baretto (John) of San Jose, CA, and Mary Robinson of Visalia, CA; nieces and nephews, Tony Martins, Jr., Rose Martins, Marian Baker, Melissa Avila, Matthew Avila, Jonathan Baretto and Monique Baretto and one great niece, Eternity Rose Baker.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2012 from 3 – 6 p.m. with Recitation of Rosary beginning at 6 p.m. at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia, CA. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Visalia. Burial will follow at Visalia District Cemetery.
