Sharon Diane Sullivan Hipp
Sharon passed away peacefully on February 21, 2012, after a brave battle with lung cancer. Born in Long Beach, CA on March 17, 1940, she graduated from St. Anthony's High School and attended LBCC. In recent years, Sharon donated her time to the American Legion Auxiliary; worked with Wounded Warriors at Camp Pendleton, and taught religion to women in the California prison system. She was a talented artist, accomplished cook, seamstress, gardener, and an avid reader - a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. Sharon was married to Paul Hipp for 46 years until his death in 2006. Their three sons are veterans of three U.S. military services - Army, Navy, and Air Force. Sharon and Paul moved the family to Heber, Utah, in the late 70s, where Paul worked as cinematographer on the Grizzly Adams TV series. Returning to California after seven years, Sharon and Paul lived in Long Beach and Irvine and moved to Warner Springs in 2002. They made many new and dear friends and Sharon attended Mass at the historic chapel of St. Francis Assisi. Sharon is survived by her mother, Millicent Petrich, and her children, David Hipp (Joy), Steven Hipp, Lisa Hipp and Robert Hipp (Chris); grandchildren, Nathan (Katie), Malissa Hickman (Chris), Steven, Harrison, Alexis Larson, Blake, Brianna, Sabrina; great-granddaughter, Hallie Perle Hickman; sister, Susan Petrich; and brother, John Petrich. She was predeceased by father, Michael R., brothers, Michael F. and Robert P. Petrich. Numerous aunts, cousins, and friends also mourn her, including BFF Deanna Murphy Weeks whose friendship Sharon enjoyed from childhood to her last days. Burial services were private. A memorial celebration will be held later. If you'd like to be notified, please email [email protected]. Our lives are filled with many beautiful people and moments. I have been lucky to have my Na Na as one of those people who gave me so many moments. Though she has left the world today, I can always hold on to her spirit and hope to be half the fighter she has been. RIP Na Na
