Shirley Jean Acord Ortiz, long time resident of Peekskill, NY, passed away on Thursday, October 4 at 11:14 pm after suffering a stroke. She is survived by her husband and life partner of 45 years, Angelo Ortiz and her children Lisa Dorsey House and son in law Romeo House of Kennesaw, GA, Fontella Dorsey Wright of Greensboro, NC, Michael Dorsey and daughter in law, Lynette Dorsey of Clayton, NC, Angelina Ortiz and son in law Jeremy Sweda of Kissimee, FL and Draper and Raquel Acord of Yonkers, NY. She is also survived by her sister Patricia Patnode of Rutlege, VT and sister in law Ruth Acord of Monticello, NY. She leaves behind 7 cherished grandchildren, Stephanie, Rachel, Olivia, Taylor, Malik, Niles, and Tiffany, 2 great grand children Zachariah and Kadin and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Shirley worked as a caregiver at Montrose Child Care Center for 17+ years. Shirley was memorialized at Grissom Funeral Home, 803 W Emmet St, Kissimmee, FL 34741 on Saturday, 10/13/2012 at 3:00. Shirley was a member of Faith Assembly Church in Kissimmee and was active in fundraising for their new youth center. In lieu of flowers the family would request that donations be sent in her memory to the Faith Assembly Church - The NOW project, 907 Curry Ford Rd, Orlando FL 32825 in honor of Shirley Jean Acord Ortiz.
