Shirley Ann "Giles" Arrington, 58, departed this life on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at her home in Abilene, TX. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at King Solomon Baptist Church, 1050 Minda Street, with Reverend Houston McClendon officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South. Burial will follow in the Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery, 5701 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, TX. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2013, at the funeral home.
The daughter of Bobbie Cummings and Moia Giles, Shirley was born in Fort Worth, Texas on August 20, 1954. She attended Woodson then Cooper High School. After marrying and moving to Rahway, New Jersey in 1973, she returned to Abilene in 1975 where she remained until her passing. Shirley had a passion for fashion and enjoyed finding deals at second hand stores for herself and others. She made sure she had on her makeup and was well dressed whenever she left her house. She enjoyed helping others and bringing a smile to everyone's face.
Her parents, Bobbie and Moia Giles preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Brian Stokes (Idell), Geocoby Arrington and daughter Miracle "Angie" Nichols (Jayson). Grandchildren include Christian and Glorianna Nichols, Brittany and Imani Stokes and great-grandson Jayden Wilson. She is also survived by her sister, Pamela J. Giles. Shirley also leaves to mourn aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends and strangers who will remember her as a lady who always lit up a room with her smile and unconditionally loving spirit. She walked in beauty.
Pallbearers include Bobby Beaty, Christopher Beaty, Jayson Nichols, Juan Herrera, Michael Nichols, Robert Jacques and Ron Egly.
