Loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt Sonya Kathryn Base, was born on October 28, 1948 in Hanford, California to loving parents, Fred and Kathryn Thomas.
On November 13, 2012, Sonya joined her high school sweetheart and husband of 47 years, Jack Michael Base in paradise. The loved they shared, being so strong could never be broken. Jack went to paradise on October 15, 2012 to prepare a welcoming new home for his loving sweetheart Sonya.
Sonya grew up in Visalia, attending George McCann, San Joaquin Memorial and graduated with Mt. Whitney Class of 1966. Sonya touched deeply the lives of many people with her big heart. She was always there for her family and friends.
She and Jack worked side by side as third generation owners of Koller Plumbing Company. Sonya's greatest love was for her daughters, Shelley Manser and Melissa Soria; her grandsons, Jack Manser, Tyler Soria, and Brandon Soria; and the most precious granddaughter, Chandler Soria. Sonya's greatest gift was the ease in which she could show love and support. She enjoyed the time she spent with her family at the coast and camping or gathering in their home at Shaver Lake. Sonya was the best mother-in-law to Ron Manser and Eric Soria and the best sister to John Thomas and his wife, Diane and to Courtney Barnes and husband Lloyd (whom she introduced to each other 38 year ago). The love Sonya had for family will be greatly missed by her nieces, Hillary Thomas, Adrienne Thomas, Rebecca Keith, and Catelynn Barnes; nephew Nicholas Barnes; great nieces, Brianna Keith, Aeris Barnes; and great nephew, Jett Barnes. Sonya will also be missed by her fellow Soroptimists and the ladies of the Tulare County Builders Exchange.
