Sister Carolyn AmRhein (Sister St. Clare), a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur, died on May 2, 2013, at the age of 88 in the 70th year of her religious life. She was born on April 13, 1925, in Peoria, IL. Sister Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents Andrew AmRhein and Clara (Hessling) AmRhein. Her passing is mourned by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, by her sister Rosemary Coyle, brothers Jim (Jackie) AmRhein and Richard (Carol) AmRhein, many nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.
Sister Carolyn taught St. Joseph Academy in Columbus, OH and St. Peter Cancius in Chicago, IL. She was a Reading Specialist at the Child Guidance Center in Columbus and an ESEA Title I Teacher for many years in Cincinnati. Sister Carolyn was Tape Librarian at Mt. Notre Dame Convent until she retired in 2013. Sister was looking forward to enjoying her new life in community service to her sisters and more time for prayer at Mt. Notre Dame Health Center when God called her home. She will be truly missed.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, from 1:30 – 2:45 at Mount Notre Dame Health Center, 699 E. Columbia Avenue, Cincinnati (513-821-7448), followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 3:00 and interment after the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Retirement Fund of the Sisters of Notre Dame, 701 E. Columbia Avenue, Cincinnati OH 45215. Funeral arrangements: Schmidt-Dhonau-Kucner Funeral Home.
