Stephen A. Ackmann,58, of Indianapolis, departed this life June 10, 2010. Stephen was born August 27, 1951 in Beech Grove, Indiana to I. Kenneth and Lois (Atkinson) Ackmann. He graduated from Beech Grove High School and attended Purdue University. He was an organic chemist for Dow Agro Sciences for 34 years, where his name is attributed to 3 U.S. Patents. He was active with his children in scouting, was an avid golfer, and enjoyed the outdoors, traveling and tailgating at Purdue football games. Stephen is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years Marianne (Masters) Ackmann, children Elizabeth (Jim) Elias, John Ackmann, Allison Ackmann, sister Sue A. (Dennis) Nuhfer, grandson Nick Elias, nephews Stephen, David, Adam and Matthew Nuhfer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at St. Roch Catholic Church at 10 AM. Visitation will be Friday June 11 from 3 – 8 PM at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary.
