Funeral services for Stephen J. Phelps, age 47 of Ogdensburg will be held at 5:00pm on Friday December 28, 2012 at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating.
Calling hours will be held also on Friday from 3:00pm until the time of the service. Mr. Phelps passed away at his home on Tuesday December 25, 2012 surrounded by his family.
Surviving is his long time companion Melissa Finley of Ogdensburg; a sister Rose Phelps of Ogdensburg, nieces & nephews Crystal & Bailey Phelps and Shane Perkins all of Ogdensburg; two step-sons David McCarthy of Saratoga Springs and Michael McCarthy of Madrid and a step-daughter Kaitlin McCarthy of Saratoga Springs.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Ray Perkins.
Stephen was born on December 5, 1965 in Ogdensburg, NY a son of the late Harold O'Marah & Donna Phelps. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1985 and worked for 15+ years at the Stella Cheese Plant in Ogdensburg as a laborer until his health declined in 2009.
He enjoyed his dogs, hunting, camping, weight lifting, visiting with friends and going for car rides. Memorial contributions can be made to the SPCA, 6718 New York 68 Ogdensburg, NY 13669.
