Steven Leon Ainsworth was born in San Francisco April 3, 1956. He was the oldest son of Leon and Cathy Ainsworth. Steve's father was in the army and he moved around the world. His father was from Idaho and his mother was from Hawaii. Steve and his family moved frequently across the United States and at times in Europe and Japan. Steve spoke fondly of his time in Japan. His parents moved to Hinesville, Georgia for his senior year in high school where he graduated with honors in 1974. Steve applied to the University of Washington and was accepted into the U of W. Steve moved to Washington and never looked back.
