Dr. Steven A. Gold, 52, of Springfield died unexpectedly on Sunday at his home. He was born in New York City and grew up in Lakewood, NJ.
Dr. Gold was a graduate of Princeton University, Mt. Sinai Medical School and Stanford University, where he was awarded a post-doctoral fellowship. He was an allergist who practiced in Freehold, NJ. Dr. Gold was a deeply caring, giving and loyal family member. These traits extended not only to his family but to his staff and patients as well.
Dr. Gold was predeceased by his two brothers, Joseph Gold in 1987 and Daniel Gold in 2010. He is survived by parents Charlotte Gold of Ocean Township and Dr. Michael Gold of Barrington, RI; partner William Hollywood; nephew and niece, Jacob and Hannah Gold and sister-in-law Sue; aunt Ruth Wirth; and four cousins and their children.
Services are 11:00am Wednesday at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 2130 Hwy 35, Ocean, NJ with interment to follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ. The family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Steven's memory to any foundation associated with Princeton University, the American Foundation for AIDS Research, or to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Foundation.
