SUSAN L. ANGEL (nee Lake), age 71, died November 4, 2013 in Lorain, OH. Beloved wife of Stephen B. Angel; devoted mother of Jennifer (Allen Reece) Angel-Reece; loving grandmother of Cordelia and Persephone Angel-Reece; dear sister of Larry (Frances) Lake and Stanley (Almut) Lake of Quebec. Services will be held at BERKOWITZ-KUMIN-BOOKATZ MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1985 S. TAYLOR RD., CLEVELAND HTS. on Thursday, November 7 at 2:30 PM. Interment Mt. Olive Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence of Larry and Frances Lake, 3220 Fox Hollow Dr., Pepper Pike THURSDAY FOLLOWING INTERMENT UNTIL 9 PM AND FRIDAY FROM 10 AM TO 4:30 PM. Susan was an occupational therapist who worked at hospitals, nursing homes
and schools for most of the 44 years between 1964 and 2008. Susan loved music.
had a musical voice both for speaking and singing. She played the French horn, and
took lessons from a Cleveland Orchestra member. She played the piano well, and
virtually taught herself to play the guitar and recorder. She sang with Choral
Spectrum in Oberlin between 1977and 2000. For several years, Susan led singing for
Sunday School children at Temple B’Nai Abraham in Elyria, Ohio.
She also liked to write, and wrote a novel about high school, collaborated in
writing a musical version of the Book of Esther, invented “The Emotion
Identification Group”, written and videotaped, wrote clear notes about her patients
and was published by the occupational therapy journal.
Susan could draw and learned crocheting, embroidery and weaving for her
work and for pleasure. She was a brave, determined person but also made many
friends who will remember her fondly. She was secretary for her class at Cleveland
Heights High School and was a dorm president and member of Mortar Board at
Best of all she was a wonderful mother, wife and grandmother.
