NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Lawrence Benoit, age 86, at 10:00 am Friday April 29, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. Jude Thierry officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Thursday with a Rosary at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Friday from 8:00 am until service time.
A native of Coteau and resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Benoit passed away at 11:22 pm on Tuesday April 26, 2011 at Iberia Medical Center.
Mrs. Benoit was an outdoors person and loved gardening. She loved spending time with her family. Sylvie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons, Eric J. Benoit of New Iberia and Roy L. Benoit and wife Tammy of New Iberia; daughters, Sylvia Laperouse and husband Mack of Clinton, Laura B. Dugas of St. Gabrielle, and Delores Benoit and husband Danny of Denham Springs, brother, Wilson Bouillion and wife Stella of New Iberia; ten grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and awaiting the arrival of her second great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Benoit; parents, Telesmar and Laura Viator Bouillion; brothers, Wilma, Wilton, Amar, and Skinny Bouillion; and sisters, Nola Romero and Delores Romero.
Pallbearers will be Eric Benoit, Roy Benoit, Mack Laperouse, Chip Scoggin, Cody Benoit, Joshua Hathorne, and Lonnie Dugas.
