IOWA PARK – Ted Anderson, age 81, died Monday, January 3, 2011, in Wichita Falls, TX after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be 3:30pm Thursday, January 6, 2011 at First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park with Dr. Jon Eckstein, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, Iowa Park, TX under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Ted was born January 16, 1929 in Wichita Falls, TX to Carroll and Lucille (Smith) Anderson. He and Peggi Reasor were married February 19, 1961 in Wichita Falls, TX. He was the owner and CEO of Armored Roofing Company where he was a charter board member of the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas until his retirement in 1991. After retirement, he started several hobbies, including raising Longhorn cattle on his ranch (Dollar Mark Eleven) in Lincoln, New Mexico. He enjoyed being a member of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Posse, and rode his horse, Goldie, in many parades in and around the State of New Mexico. Ted and Peggi also enjoyed participating in competition Chuckwagon cooking where they received various awards.
Ted loved the outdoors where he enjoyed trout fishing, hunting, and horseback riding. He loved and was dedicated to his family and loved the Lord and showed it in his daily life. Ted was a 33rd degree Mason and a member of Faith Lodge #1158 AF & AM.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepparents, Myrtis and Bert Pfingsten of New Mexico, and his beloved son, Steven Anderson. He is survived by his wife, Peggi of Iowa Park; son, Denny Anderson, of Manvel, TX; daughter, Julie Anderson Ressel of Wichita Falls; brother, Stanley Anderson of Abilene, TX; sister, Myrna Grigsby and husband, Wes of Abilene, TX; and a very special nephew, Ronny Berry and wife P.J. of Iowa Park. He loved and was very close to his extended family in Wichita Falls, the Richard Koetter family. His other extended families include Roy Childers family, Midlothian, TX, Paul Yarger family of Palmer, TX, and Wynn Fulton of Cedar Hill, TX, the Leonard Dias family of Sacramento, CA, and many great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Visitation will be from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Ronny Berry, James Owens, Larry Parks, Cody Parks, Kevin Parks, Terry Tatom, and Cody Barnett.
Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park or the Wichita County Humane Society.
